Crested Butte Powder

To get to the very top of Colorado's Crested Butte, you take the lifts as far as they go and then put your skis over your shoulder and hike another 500 vertical feet to the peak. On this day we climbed a windblown ridge where the new snow had not accumulated. Once at the 12,500 foot summit, we skied down the lee side where the new powder had come softly to rest. This is what steep and deep is like.
